Everyday can be a great day!

This has been a long time coming for me. For years I have been wanting to start a blog and never knew how. In reality, when you really want to do something, you find a way. So that’s what I am doing now. I am still learning how to manage one but I will get better with time.

I have many roles but my favorite two are those of a wife and mom. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 7 years now. We have 3 amazing kids and are learning how to be better parents everyday! My blog will of course consist of parenting things too. It really does take a village to raise humans and when we don’t have a village, we make one.

We are all on this journey called Life. We all have our way of living and ways that we get through our highs and lows.

My name is Loreal. I have enjoy hobbies from crocheting, cooking, and crafting, to cleaning, DIY, and thrifting. I am a mom of three and you know that is my whole personality!

I believe that there is so much that we can learn from each other. Most of us want to make the world a better place for ourselves and for the generations to come. In order to do so it has to start with us and getting back to being a part of a community.

I hope you to build community and to teach/learn as I embark on this new journey.

What is it with moving that makes it so dreadful? That’s the process that we are in right now and very time we do this I swear that it’s the last time we do it. It’s the toys, the clutter, the things that I just cannot seem to let go of.

I have been getting rid of a lot things in the months prior to beginning the moving process but I guess we need think we have so much until it’s to pack it all up.

Also, why to moving boxes and containers have to so expensive? We used to buy the cardboard boxes but now we decided to invest in the plastic storage containers that we can save for other purposes.

We have a few more weeks left until it’s time to make the big move which in reality is not that big. We are only moving down the street but we are excited to be selling our condo that housed us for the last 4 years and we will be moving into a house that will be filled so many memories and I’m sure some downs as well.

It may not look like much in the picture, or it might look like a huge mess but this was my kids’ room before packing everything up. the containers that have worked best for us are the black ones with the yellow lid from cost co.

There is still a lot to pack and clean in our little condo. I take things day by day and try to get as much as I can done.

Tomorrow’s goal is: take all the ready boxes from upstairs down, empty our bedrooms, and get the carpet ready to be washed. I’ll check and let you all know that went.

Well so much for daily posting…

I have been super busy would be an understatement. From moving, to unpacking, to working side things here and there, I have not made this project a priority. Lucky for me, I have now been able to slow down a little bit more and I can focus on everything I am working this year.

I am trying to come up with a schedule on weekly topics and how to incorporate everything that I want to share in an organized way. I am also still learning how to work this darn website thing. Please bear with me and I will be top notch in no time.

You guys ever have no idea what to make for dinner so you just throw something together?

I am no hardcore cook but I am learning and I had to put my thinking cap on and throw down in the kitchen not knowing what I was going to do.

Now if you give me recipe I can so good but I want to be someone who make something out of nothing. It does not always come out the best but it is still edible and luckily my buddies are still young enough to not know I am a horrible cook.

Tonight on the menu, we have baked chicken and Mexican rice. Yes, I kept it simple because we all have to start somewhere and I added some roasted carrots to it too.

When it comes to meals and snacks one thing that I am always proud of is how I can make it balanced. Over the years of being a mom I have followed child nutritionists on Instagram. Also, a little bit of my background in Public Health has helped shaped the way that I approach food and nutrition to my kids.

Something I hear often is not worry about what we can take away from our plate but what we can add to it.

We try not label foods as “good” or bad” in our home. We do not talk about size or appearance. We don’t normally say what is for dinner unless if they ask but we just give them their plate. We don’t put pressure on them to try new foods or try to bribe them. My goal when it comes to new foods is to give them the exposure and allow them to decide if and when they try something. We have taught to listen to their bodies so that when they are full they can stop eating.

There’s a few more things that we practice but these are some that I feel have helped shaped their eating habits

I will never know if the way that my kids are not picky and are really good eaters is a result of how I have raised them, or if they were born just naturally being like this.

My kids will for the most part gladly eat what is put on their plate. They have learned what they like or don’t like after trying it first. For example, my daughter does not enjoy her carrots cooked, she likes to eat them raw.

Of course we are not perfect and as for me personally I am still learning how to manage good eating habits for myself. I have learned that I am someone who eats when I am stressed or sad and that has caused me to gain a lot of weight. Although I am very happy with myself and I am very confident, I still want to practice good habits and be an example.

I also want to prevent chronic illnesses as they run in my family. A lot of this information that I have learned I owe to Kids.eat.in.color on Instagram. She is someone who I have looked up to in regard to building good food relationships for my kids. At the end of the day that is the goal, to raise kids who don’t have to succumb to diet culture and can have a good relationship with food as they grow up.
